About your Credit Report and Score

Your Credit Report is a compilation of your credit history, including all financing for home loans, student loans and equity lines of credit. Information will include the credit limit on credit cards and any unpaid, late payments or debt that has gone to a collection agency. Your credit history will also include a history of the registered addresses where you opened lines of credit.

Your Credit Score is compiled from your Credit Report, and is constantly being adjusted as new Credit information from your activity is recorded. For instance, if you have a debt that goes to a collection agency, your credit score will be adversely affected. Similarly, if you open up a new line of credit with a higher limit, your credit score will improve as you continue to spend and repay your credit line in a responsible manner. Understanding Your Credit Report

What is a credit report?

In short, a credit report (also called credit file or credit history) is a record of a consumer's past and present credit obligations, such as credit cards, loans, mortgages, or bill payments.

Your credit report is used by lending institutions (e.g., banks, mortgage companies, or credit card providers), employers, landlords, and government agencies to determine your credit worthiness or to determine what interest rates to offer you. In other words, it gives businesses an idea of how risky it would be to lend you money or enter into a contract with you (such as a rental agreement or monthly cell phone contract).

There are three main independent national repositories that provide consumer credit reports in the U.S.: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. While the basic information is the same from each consumer credit reporting agency, the individual reports may differ because some creditors provide information to only one or two of the three agencies. To get the most complete view of your credit history, you should review your reports from all three credit reporting agencies.

With TrueAssure Credit Plus, you get more than an Annual Credit Report. In addition to Credit Reporting from all three Credit Reporting Agencies, you also get your Three Bureau Credit Scores.
